About the Rabbi

Rabbi Donna Mesite-Levy
Rabbi Mesite-Levy received ordination from The Academy for Jewish Religion in May 2007. Born in Meriden, Connecticut ,Rabbi Mesite began her professional career as a registered nurse after graduating from Salve Regina College in Newport, Rhode Island. She continued her studies, earning an M.S. in Healthcare Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Troy, NY. As a nurse, Donna specialized in pediatric oncology, adolescent and adult psychiatry as well as psychiatric emergency-crisis intervention.

She was drawn to chaplaincy work and entered the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program at Good Samaritan Medical Center. There she realized that her education and skills could be best utilized as a chaplain. She continued her CPE training at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fl. and Beth Israel Medical Center NY,NY. She has also studied at Ulpan Akiva in Neytana, Israel, Drisha Institute for Jewish Education in NY, NY and The Healthcare Chaplaincy NY,NY.

While at AJR Rabbi Mesite served as rabbinic intern at Temple Israel of New York City and Temple Shalom of Norwalk, Connecticut Rabbi Mesite's graduate thesis "End of Life Issues: A Handbook for Rabbis and Cantors," provides information on medical, legal and halakhic aspects of end of life decisions facing clergy.

Rabbi Donna Mesite has led reform shabbat services at Bellevue Hospital Synagogue and Serves as Rabbi on the Palliative Care Comittee at Mary Manning Nursing Home in NYC 347-432-2011 donmesi12@aol.com
